Yesterday- Strawberry Shake!

Jamie and I were out running around yesterday... We purchased some shirts for Jamie and one for Dan for $2! It was a very hottttt and muggy day, so we decided to stop at Steak n' Shake for lunch. The place was packed! Jamie had a foot long hotdog with fries and a strawberry shake- he said it tasted like strawberries! Really? Strawberries? Who would have thought that? Bananas? Nope! Strawberries! After that wonder- we went to the bread store for Jamie to pick himself out some treats. Then home for swimming and relaxing for the evening. We hope you all had a great week! A swimming we shall go!

Swimming, swimming in a swimming pool...when days are hot, when days are cold... in a swimming pool! (sorry, it's a song is stuck in my head from back in my girl scout days!)

Jamie and I have been swimming in the pool in the condo complex at least 2 times a week. Jamie likes to swim. It is easy on his joints and muscles. He has such limited movement on his right side, that it is much easier to move and lift his arm and leg in the water. We had a great 2 hour workout yesterday (I got a little fried). He kept busy as I directed him in keeping moving and stretching out those tensed up muscles.

We will soon be joining the local gym- the beginning of August. We will be going at least 2 times a week to do weight training too.... keeping you all posted of our progress.

Jamie's getting a "Make Over"

It's Monday Make Over time and we decided to go to the local thrift store to see what we could find to update Jamie's look... preferably away from polyester and into some cotton! We spent 2 hours looking, hunting and trying on. To leave there victorious in our finds. 3 polos (Izod, Polo and Columbia brand), 1 button down short sleeve seersucker shirt and 2 pair of casual Dockers pants.... all for under $50! Here is the pics of the fashion show we had once we got home:

Big News! Jamie's News has begun!

Welcome All to Jamie's Blog News! This is a place where we can share what Jamie's activities are and what keeps him busy day to day.  This is also to be a place where his family and friends can check up on him and find out what fills his days. Jamie has been known to confabulate and our concern is, that many people do not know when he is being truthful and we want you to get the full picture of how blessed Jamie's life actually is. We want to make sure that ALL the people Jamie knows will know what he is doing and can then talk to him about all the great things that are happening with him daily.

First, let me introduce myself. My name is Miki Kinkead. Myself and my husband Fr. Dan Kinkead have been house parents for Jamie for the past 16 months. We were friends of Victor and Jamie through church. Victor had relied on Dan's expertise for help with issues concerning Jamie as Dan works for the Dept. of Mental Health in Missouri. In that year plus of time, Dan, Fr. Paul and myself as well as other independence workers that are in Jamie's life, have all come to the conclusion that he needs more supervised support. Dan and myself were both working full time jobs and working on planting a church in St. Louis. This proved to not be the best for Jamie. I am now his full time independence worker, blogger, driver, chef, coach, and so on....
